Last updated · November 5, 2026

This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the control you have over it. We keep data collection to a minimum, and we never sell it.

In short

  • We never sell your data
  • Data collection kept to a minimum
  • Access or delete your data any time
  • GDPR-compliant, EU-based hosting
  • Encrypted connection (HTTPS)
01

Who we are

Cinecom Belgium BV runs cinecom.net and is the controller of the personal data described here.

  • Company: Cinecom Belgium BV
  • VAT / enterprise number: BE0548758890
  • Address: Joseph Smeetslaan 319, 3630 Maasmechelen, Belgium
  • Contact: [email protected]
02

What we collect

We only collect what we need to run the site, deliver your purchases and keep your account secure.

  • Account: your name, email, encrypted password, and purchase and download history.
  • Viewing and downloads: how long you watch each lesson, and each time you download a file. You see the same figures in your account. We use them to show your progress and to handle refund requests.
  • Orders: billing name, address and country, plus company name and VAT number for businesses. These are collected and processed by our reseller, Paddle.
  • Email: your email address, and whether each email we send you is opened and which links in it are clicked.
  • Comments & reviews: the name and content you submit, plus your IP address for spam protection.
  • Messages: your name, email, topic and message when you use the contact form, plus your IP address for spam protection.
  • Referrals: the code of the partner whose link brought you here. Partners see the sales they referred, not who bought.
  • Automatically: IP address and device and browser info, to keep the site secure and working.
  • Visits, if you allow it: the pages you view, what you buy, and your device and rough location, measured by Google Analytics.
  • Your cookie choice: what you chose in the cookie banner and when. No IP address.
  • The products you look at, if you allow it: which course, video pack and bundle pages you open, linked to your account or newsletter subscription, so our emails can follow up on them.
03

Why we use it

  • Deliver courses, packs and downloads, and manage your account (to perform our contract).
  • Handle payments, invoicing and VAT (a legal obligation, carried out by Paddle).
  • Send transactional emails such as receipts and password resets (to perform our contract).
  • Send our newsletter (with your consent), which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Send one reminder when you start a checkout and don’t finish it (our legitimate interest).
  • Credit a purchase to the partner whose link you came through (our legitimate interest).
  • Keep the site secure and prevent fraud and spam (our legitimate interest).
  • See which tutorials and courses help, and where visitors come from (with your consent, the Statistics choice).
  • Let Google use your visits for its ads (with your consent, the Advertising choice).
  • Keep proof of your cookie choice (a legal obligation).
  • Send emails that fit what you looked at (with your consent, the Personalised emails choice).
04

Who we share it with

We never sell your data. We share it only with the processors that run the service, each under a data-processing agreement:

  • Paddle: payments, billing, VAT and fraud checks (our reseller and merchant of record).
  • Bunny.net: video streaming and the site’s fonts, on EU servers. Your IP address is processed briefly to deliver them.
  • Backblaze B2: secure storage of downloadable files.
  • Brevo: sending our newsletter and marketing emails.
  • Mailjet: sending account emails, such as receipts and password resets.
  • Premiere Basics: we link to Odin Pro, which it sells on its own site. If you sign up there through our link, Premiere Basics tells us your email address, your first name and the plan you chose.
  • UpCloud: website hosting, in a datacentre in Amsterdam.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile: spam protection on our comment, contact and newsletter forms.
  • YouTube: our tutorials show YouTube videos. The player loads, and YouTube sets its own cookies, only when you press play.
  • Google (Google Ireland): Google Analytics measures visits, only if you allow Statistics. If you also allow Advertising, Google may link your visit to your Google account and use it for ads, under its own privacy policy.
  • If you allow both Statistics and Personalised emails, Google Analytics gets a code number for you instead of a random one, so we can link what it measures to your subscription. Never your name or email address.
05

International transfers

Some processors, for example Paddle and Backblaze, operate outside the EU. For those transfers we rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework to keep your data protected. You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards.

06

How long we keep it

  • Account data: until you delete your account.
  • Order and invoice data: 7 years (Belgian tax law).
  • Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe.
  • Security and spam logs: up to 6 months.
  • Statistics in Google Analytics: 14 months.
  • Cookie choices: 24 months, as proof of your consent.
  • Product pages you looked at: 90 days.
07

Cookies

Always on, because the site needs them to work:

  • cinecom-session: keeps you signed in and holds your basket (2 hours).
  • XSRF-TOKEN: protects the forms you send (2 hours).
  • cinecom_consent: remembers your cookie choice (6 months, then we ask again).

When you arrive through a partner’s link, cinecom_ref stores the partner’s code for 30 days, so a purchase in that time is credited to them. It holds only the code.

Only if you allow Statistics: _ga and one starting with _ga_, set by Google Analytics to tell visits apart and keep each visit together (2 years).

Only if you allow Personalised emails: cinecom_reader, set when you open a link in one of our emails, so the site knows it is you (30 days). It holds an encrypted number, nothing else.

Change your choice at any time under Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Taking back a yes deletes the Google Analytics cookies, and cinecom_reader with the product pages we kept for you.

08

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can access, correct, delete or export your data, object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be).

09

Security

We protect your data with HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords, restricted internal access, regular backups and EU-based hosting.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our service or the law changes. The “Last updated” date above always shows the current version, and we will flag any significant change.
