The Super Bowl has been decided and the Los Angeles Rams won. Now of course as somebody from Belgium, the whole game doesn't really interest me as I don't know the game rules. But as a filmmaker the Super Bowl does have a interesting part, the Half Time commercials.

Normally everybody hates commercials and always tries to skip them. But somehow the commercials during the Super Bowl are highly anticipated and watched by millions of people. So what makes them so special? Why do people look forward to watching these commercials?

Throughout the years the Super Bowl advertisements have become something iconic in the American culture. This is all because of their cinematographic quality, making them look like high production short films. And this combined with a lot of celebrities, makes them very attractive to watch.

Now besides that, the Super Bowl ads also try to impress with their storylines, surreal humor and use of special effects. They really go all out with every aspect of filmmaking. And this is also very visible in the budgets of the advertisements. Where a 30-second commercial during the Super Bowl will cost you 7 million dollars and this is only for air time. Which is insane for just a commercial.
